Haystack Mine Road

WYDOT’s new road for Uinta County presented a challenge to designers, because the design required the construction of a gravel access road to be used by the Mine until the final county road was built less than a year later. The design process was accelerated greatly in order to meet the project's very aggressive schedule. Vista West accomplished that by preparing the grading design for the access road as Phase I of the project. That finished grading model was used as existing ground for the Phase II grading. This idea, which was proposed by Vista West, allowed for the design of Phase II to begin several months sooner by eliminating the need to survey the finished access road in place.

Construction of Phase II is tentatively scheduled for 2012.
