Vista West Engineering received an Award for Excellence from the ACPA for the extensive use of concrete pavement in an urban street setting and for the overall complexity of the project, which involved working around conflicts with major communication conduits feeding the entire city while upgrading all water, sewer and storm drainage facilities in the area. Additional challenges were presented by extremely poor soil conditions and buried obstacles ranging from abandoned bridge abutments, other utility lines and headstones left over from an old monument company.
